Is it ok to put medela breast pumps into the dishwasher ? Is it ok to put medela breast pumps into the dishwasher ? If so is it ok to use Cascade dishwasher soap, cause that's what I use? Is it ok to put baby bottles in the dishwasher? I have BPA free bottles! |
| I do and have been doing so for the past 9 months- you need to figure out a system (so the caps and nipples don't float everywhere). I use 7th Generation dishwasher soap and put them on the sanitize cycle. I even put my pump parts in the dishwasher too. |
I hear Medela breast pumps are the best but are there any ones that work just as good and are tons cheaper ? I hear Medela breast pumps are the best but are there any ones that work just as good and are tons cheaper ? |
| Not tons cheaper, but the Lansinoh double-electric is made by Ameda and is basically their Purely Yours pump, which is very highly rated. You can usually get that for less than either a Purely Yours or a Medela Pump in Style. But any of those are a bargain compared to formula! |
I was wondering if they fit the Medela breast pumps? I have some of those breast milk storage bottles that the hospital uses, and I know that they fit some breast pumps, but I was wondering if they fit the Medela breast pumps? |
| All bottles/containers/etc. that are standard in size, meaning they are not "wide" fit the Medela pump. I have the Medela Breast Milk Storage 2.5 oz containers and I loved them for storing and freezing. Great for a newborn because they are the small size and you can just put any collar and nipple on the top. Medela wide and standard nipples are nice but any your baby will use will work. This is particularly good if you are pumping for a trip out and a sitter can just put a nipple on -- no messy bags or confusing bottle parts. |
Where can I buy a Medela breast pumps in Onario Canada? I live in Aylmer Ontario it is close to St. Thomas, Tillsonburg and London. What retailers sell Medela breast pumps? I heard that they are the best??? |
| is there " for'mamas" where ur at? |
Women who breastfeed: Please help me compare the Medela Breast Pumps? I hear a lot about the pump in style, but i also hear a lot of compliments on ALL medela pumps. IS the medela swing pump the same "pump" but different carrying case etc? If you have used a medela pump or a few of them, please share your review or comparison. Thanks!! |
Medela has several models that are wonderful.
Moms moms tend to favor the Pump in Style versions (both Original and Advanced) because they have been some of the most efficient and effective Medela pumps.
The Medela Swing pump is a good pump but only pumps one side at a time and is not as convenient for working moms who need to bring the pump with them frequently.
Medela has also introduced a new pump, the FreeStyle, that is totally hands-free and sure to be a new favorite. |
Are Evenflo GLASS baby bottles compatible with Medela Breast Pumps? I am registering online and know I want to use glass bottles. I like Evenflo's the best, now I need to find a breast pump that is compatible. Any info on this? Thanks! |
haven't used the glass bottles yet, but the plastic ones I have are compatible. the medela pump comes with plastic bottles though - why don't you register for both?
eta: I didn't mean you had to use plastic, haha - I realize how that sounded. but they come with storage bottles anyways, so we just used them. but really, I'd just register for both if you want the evenflo bottles. I did see medela glass bottles today in babies r us too that I'm sure would be compatible, but they were expensive!

Should I buy a Medela Freestyle breast pumps are the in-style advance? I'm shopping around for a breast pumps i narrowed it down to Medela I can't decide if I should get a free style are the in-style advance..anyone have any experience w/ the pump? and where can I purchase one for less then retail price? |
I'm very familiar with both of these pumps. They are both the same quality of pump, so it's not that one will be more effective than the other. The only benefit to the Freestyle is that it is hands free. It is not inconspicuous or quiet. It will still be very obvious that you are breastpumping. Also, it is a little more difficult to set up and take apart. If you are working in a private office where you can close the door, it may be a good option because it would allow you to continue working while you are breastpumping.
As far as getting a discount, it is very unlikely. These pumps are expensive because they are very high quality. They are definitely the best pumps out there. So, because of that, it is almost impossible to get a discount. These pumps never go on sale. The only thing that you may be able to do is get partial insurance reimbursement. Call your insurance company for more info. I live in GA, and we are finding that more and more insurance carriers are covering breastpumps. If they say yes, be sure to ask if they cover rentals or purchases. Also ask if you have to purchase the breastpump at any particular place such as a DME (durable medical equipment) provider.
On a personal note, I think that the Freestyle is basically a bunch of bells and whistles that aren't worth the extra expense. You could buy yourself a new outfit with the money you will save if you buy the Pump Is Style Advanced.
Oh yeah. Call 1-800-TELL-YOU. That's Medela's customer service line. Tell them you are considering different breastpumps (don't tell them you have settled on Medela). Sometimes they send coupons/samples in the mail :) I hope this helps. |
Anyone used Medela breast pumps? Difference between the In Style and Freestyle? The Freestyle is a lot more expensive so wondered if worth it! |
Freestyle is hands-free and lightweight. It operates on a battery (not sure if the In Style does or not).

I used it and loved it. I could eat, read, type, etc. while pumping.

Can any mothers tell me if the medela breast pump is good the one that pumps itself??? because i know the first couple days the breast are very very sore and i am just wondering how painful is it to have the machine pulling ? |
hi there!
i have already bought it - the electric single one - though i am still in my 34th week, as both my friends that had their labors in June are using it and are very happy with it.
they told me it does not hurt and it helps you have a bottle of milk in less time than others.
Good luck! |
